Geldmacher, 4x400 Relay Earn All-New England Honors at DIII New England Championships

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Senior Becca Geldmacher (Rochester, Mass.) earned All-New England honors in both the 600-meter run and the 4x400-meter relay to lead the Bridgewater State University Bears at the 2014 Division III New England Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Springfield College on Saturday.

Geldmacher placed second in the 600 with a time of 1:39.67.  She also ran a leg on the Bears' 4x400 relay along with fellow senior Karen Anselmi (Franklin, Mass.), and freshmen Amanda Lane (Abington, Mass.) and Abbie Pustis (Andover, Mass.).  The squad finished fifth in the event with a time of 4:05.35.

Bridgewater placed 18th in the standings with 12 team points.  Williams College captured the team title with 150 points followed by MIT (119 pts.) in second place and Tufts University (94 pts.) in third.

Sophomore Ariele Krevosky (Oxford, Mass.) added a ninth place showing in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.36 seconds, while finishing 13th in the triple jump (33'11.25") and 17th in the long jump (16'1.00").  Senior Melissa Chiasson (Maynard, Mass.) also placed ninth in the weight throw with a toss of 47 feet, one inch (14.35 meters), while freshman Samantha Richner (Hanson, Mass.) tied for ninth in the high jump with a leap of five feet, one inch (1.55 meters).

Freshman Sydney Bennett (North Attleboro, Mass.) placed 14th in the shot put (37'5.25"), while Anselmi finished 15th in the 400-meter dash (1:00.69).

Next weekend, qualifying members of the BSU women's indoor track and field team will compete at the NEICAAA Championships hosted by Boston University.
