MEDFORD, Mass. -- The Bears' 4 x 200 relay team of senior Co Davis (Mansfield, Mass.), junior Mychal-Lynne Folsom (Rockland, Mass.), sophomore Laura McHugh (Mansfield, Mass.) and freshman Ashley Aldred (Saugus, Mass.) set a new school record to lead the women's indoor track and field team at the Tufts Stampede this weekend.
Bridgewater State placed 12th out of 19 schools in the team scoring with 17 points.
Davis, Folsom, McHugh and Aldred posted a time of 1:51.48 to finish seventh in the event. They eclipsed the previous BSU 4 x 200 standard of 1:51.78 which was set last season
Davis also placed seventh in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:43.04.
Senior Carrie Robitaille (Ludlow, Mass.) added a ninth place showing in the triple jump with a leap of 33 feet, 1.75 inches (10.10 meters).
On Friday evening, Robitaille finished seventh in the pentathlon with a score of 2,709 points. She placed fourth in the long jump (4.64m), fifth in the 800 (2:34.35), sixth in the high jump (1.45m), eighth in the 60-meter hurdles (10.33 seconds) and tenth in the shot put (7.83m) during the pentathlon.
The Bears will compete in the MASCAC/Alliance Championships next weekend at Southern Maine.
