Women's Track & Field Competes at Harvard Open

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University women's indoor track and field team competed at the non-scoring Harvard Open on Saturday afternoon.

Competition featured teams from all three divisions in New England and several club teams.

Junior Molly Rouillard (Dartmouth, Mass.) was one of three Bears to place in the top ten in the mile run.  Rouillard finished sixth overall with a time of 5:21.28 as she qualified for the Division III New England Championships.

Senior Sarah Lagasse (Rehoboth, Mass.) finished seventh in the mile (5:27.36) and also qualified for DIII New Englands, while classmate Melissa Harris (Uxbridge, Mass.) placed ninth (5:30.50). 

The Bears' 4 x 440 relay team of Rouillard, Lagasse and sophomores Malgorzata Czerwonka (Billerica, Mass.) and Laura McHugh (Mansfield, Mass.) finished fifth with a time of 4:11.70.  Czerwonka also placed sixth in the 500-meter dash (1:25.07).

Freshman Brittany Angiolillo (North Reading, Mass.) placed tenth in the triple jump and qualified for DIII New Englands with a leap of 34 feet, 5.50 inches.  Angiolillo also finished tenth in the long jump (16 feet, 2.50 inches).

Senior Carrie Robitaille (Ludlow, Mass.) also qualified for DIII New Englands in the triple jump as she posted a distance of 34 feet, 2.25 inches which was good enough for 12th place in the event.

The Bears are off until after the semester break when they compete at the Bates Invitational on January 21st.
