Women's Track & Field Competes at Northeastern Carisella Invitational

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University women's track and field team opened the 2011-2012 indoor season at the non-scoring Northeastern Jay Carisella Invitational held at the Reggie Lewis Center.

The meet primarily featured New England teams from Divisions I, II and III.

Junior Molly Rouillard (Dartmouth, Mass.) was the top finisher for the Bears as she placed fifth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:22.07.  Rouillard qualified for the New England Division III and ECAC postseason championship meets.

Seniors Sarah Lagasse (Rehoboth, Mass.) and Melissa Harris (Uxbridge, Mass.) also qualified for D III New Englands in the 800.  Lagasse placed eighth (2:25.55) in the event while Harris finished ninth (2:26.68).

Freshman Brittany Angiolillo (North Reading, Mass.) posted a sixth place showing and qualified for DIII New Englands in the triple jump with a leap of 34 feet, 1.25 inches.

Sophomore Malgorzata Czerwonka (Billerica, Mass.) added a tenth place finish in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:22.81.  Czerwonka also qualified for DIII New Englands.

Next Saturday, the Bears compete at the Harvard Open.
