Robitaille Leads Bears at ECAC Track & Field Championships

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Bridgewater State University junior Carrie Robitaille placed fifth in the heptathlon and earned All-ECAC honors to lead the Bears at the ECAC Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships held at Moravian College.

Robitaille posted a score of 3,856 points in the heptathlon as she placed first in the 800-meter run (2:30.65), fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (15.80 seconds) and long jump (4.95 meters) and tied for sixth in the high jump (1.43 meters).  She also finished seventh in the 200-meter dash (27.53 seconds), eighth in the javelin (20.93 meters) and 11th in the shot put (7.55 meters).

Fellow junior Sarah Lagasse (Rehoboth, Mass.) broke her own school record in the steeplechase as she placed ninth in the event with a time of 11:42.33.  Lagasse eclipsed her previous standard of 11:49.86 set earlier this season at the MASCAC Championships.

The Bears' relay team of Lagasse, classmates Co Davis (Mansfield, Mass.) and Molly Rouillard (Dartmouth, Mass.) and senior Jessica Eidinger (Sutton, Mass.) broke the BSU 4 x 400 mark with a time of 4:00.17 as they placed ninth in the event.  The previous record of 4:00.92 was set by Kristin Neville, Katie Carter, Melissa Carter and Sarah Fasel in 2002.

Senior Brittany Page (Winthrop, Mass.) placed 17th in the hammer throw with a distance of 41.97 meters.

On the men's side, the BSU relay team of freshmen Joseph Danner-Hicks (Bedford, Mass.) and Joshua Danner-Hicks (Bedford, Mass.) and sophomores Mohammed Malik (West Bridgewater, Mass.) and Felix Mensah (Lowell, Mass.) finished 17th in the 4x100 relay (43.70 seconds).
