Robitaille Leads Women's Track at NEICAAA Championships

BOSTON, Mass. – Junior Carrie Robitaille (Ludlow, Mass.) earned All-New England honors in the pentathlon to lead the Bridgewater State women's team at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Indoor Track and Field Championships at Boston University.

Robitaille registered a BSU indoor record score of 2,939 points to finish in seventh place in the event.  She eclipsed her previous school mark of 2,851 points set just last weekend at the New England Division III Championships at MIT.

In the pentathlon events, Robitaille placed second in the long jump with a BSU school record leap of 16 feet, 8.75 inches.  She broke her own record of 16 feet, seven inches set earlier this season.  Robitaille also finished fifth in the 800-meter run (2:32.60), seventh in the 60-meter hurdles (9.85 seconds) and high jump (4'10.25") and 11th in the shot put (23'10.25").

Classmate Molly Rouillard (Dartmouth, Mass.) was also involved in a pair of BSU record-setting performances.  Rouillard broke the Bears' 400-meter dash record with a time of 59.05 seconds to place 20th in the event.  The previous standard of 59.89 seconds was held by Rouillard and Kristin Neville (2003).

Rouillard also ran a leg on the record-setting 4 x 400 relay team along with fellow juniors Co Davis (Mansfield, Mass.) and Sarah Lagasse (Rehoboth, Mass.) and freshman Malgorzata Czerwonka (Billerica, Mass.).  The foursome posted a time of 4:01.31 to place 14th in the event, eclipsing the previous school mark of 4:08.51.

Lagasse also finished 16th in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 3:04.69.

In the team standings, Bridgewater placed 33rd overall with Robitaille tallying the Bears' lone two points.  Division One UConn won the meet with 186 points followed by Northeastern (58 pts.) and Southern Connecticut State (52 pts.).
