BOSTON, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State College indoor track and field teams eclipsed six school records at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Indoor Track and Field Championships held at Boston University on Saturday.

On the women's side, sophomore Colleen Davis (Mansfield, MA) set the BSC mark in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:19.00.  Davis was also part of the Bears' record-setting 4 x 400 relay team that placed 18th in the event with a time of 4:08.51, breaking their own school indoor mark of 4:11.23 set earlier this season.  Also competing in the relay were fellow sophomores Carrie Robitaille (Ludlow, MA) and Sarah Lagasse (Rehoboth, MA), and freshman Kylie Almeida (Somerset, MA).

The Bears 4 x 800 relay team of juniors Brittany Robinson (Gardner, MA), Carissa Penney (Gardner, MA) and Jessica Eidinger (Sutton, MA), and sophomore Melissa Harris (Uxbridge, MA) set the school indoor mark with a time of 10:04.45 as they finished 22nd in the event.  They broke the previous standard of 10:06.86 set in 2008.  Penney and Eidinger were both part of the 2008 relay team.

Both relay teams and Davis in the 500 qualified for the ECAC Division III Championships which are being held next weekend at Smith College.

On the men's side, sophomores Bill Taft (Hanson, MA) and Mike Sukeforth (Middleboro, MA), and freshmen Stephen Wahome (Lowell, MA) and Matt Perreault (Lunenburg, MA) broke their own distance medley relay record with a time of 10:23.71 as they finished in 16th place at the meet.

Taft, Sufeforth, Wahome and junior Ryan D'Arcangelo (Norfolk, MA) also eclipsed the Bridgewater State indoor mark in the 4 x 800 relay with a time of 7:57.94 as they placed 18th in the event.  The previous school mark of 8:08.04 was set back in 1998 by Jeremy Tilton, Marc Mangiacotti, Jason Pappas and BSC Hall of Fame Class of 2009 inductee, Solomon Tsegai.

Both the distance medley relay team and the 4 x 800 relay squad qualified for next weekend's ECAC Championships.

Also breaking a Bridgewater State indoor track record was the relay team of Perreault, senior Kevin White (Swansea, MA), junior Chris Dagostino (Littleton, MA) and freshman Mohammed Malik (West Bridgewater, MA).  The foursome posted a time of 3:28.78 in the 4 x 400 breaking the previous school mark of 3:30.77 set by Tim Barrow, Nilton Gomes, Dan Slyne and Fernando Vieira in 2008.
