Smith Sets BSC School Mark at Tufts Stampede

MEDFORD, Mass. -- Freshman Taylor Smith (Cumberland, RI) broke her own school record in the 55-meter dash to lead the Bridgewater State College women's indoor track and field team at the Tufts Stampede on Saturday.

Smith posted a time of 7.68 seconds in the 55-meter dash to finish in fourth place in the event.  She eclipsed her previous school mark of 7.73 seconds set earlier this season at the Wheaton Invitational. Smith also registered a leap of 31'4" in the triple jump to finish in tenth place.

Also highlighting the meet for the Bears were sophomores Colleen Davis (Mansfield, MA), Carrie Robitaille (Ludlow, MA) and Sarah Lagasse (Rehoboth, MA). Davis placed third in the 600-meter run (1:40.67) and fifth in the 200-meter dash (:28.51), while Robitaille was sixth in the 55-meter hurdles (9.43).  Lagasse finished second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:24.33.
