BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - Sophomore Sarah Lagasse (Rehoboth, MA) posted a pair of record-setting performances as the Bridgewater State College women's indoor track and field team competed at the BU Terrier Invitational on Friday.
Lagasse smashed the Bears' mile record by more than seven seconds with a time of 5:16.40, breaking the previous school mark of 5:24.13 set by Nicole Mauro in 2008.
Lagasse and teammates Colleen Davis (Mansfield, MA), Carrie Robitaille (Ludlow, MA) and Kylie Almeida (Somerset, MA) also broke the BSC 4 x 400 relay mark with a time of 4:11.23, eclipsing the previous standard of 4:13.14 set in 2003. Lagasse placed 37th in the mile at the meet and the relay team posted an 11th place finish.
Freshman Taylor Smith (Cumberland, RI) posted a distance of 32'5.75" in the triple jump to finish in 19th place.
The Bears will compete in the Smith College Invitational next Saturday (Feb. 6).
