Women's Track Competes at N.E. Division III Championships

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State College women's track and field team placed 21st at the New England Division III Championships on Saturday hosted by Springfield College.

Bridgewater finished the meet with five points.  MIT was the team champion with 152.5 points followed by Williams College (143) and Middlebury College (68).

Freshman Kerry Mullane (Cumberland, RI) scored in the meet for the Bears and earned All-New England honors as she placed fourth in the javelin with a distance of 114'4.0".

Fellow freshman Carrie Robitaille (Ludlow, MA) had the next best finish behind Mullane as she posted an 11th place showing in the 100-meter hurdles (:16.66).

Freshman Colleen Davis (Mansfield, MA) finished 16th in the 400-meter dash (1:01.51) and 18th in the 400-meter hurdles (1:08.57).  Davis also ran a leg on the Bears' 4 x 800-meter relay squad which placed 12th in the event with a time of 10:13.74.  Sophomores Amanda Hauswirth (Methuen, MA), Carissa Penney (Gardner, MA) and Jessica Eidinger (Sutton, MA) competed in the relay along with Davis.

Rounding out the competitors at the New England championships was freshman Rachael Ackley (Southboro, MA).  Ackley was 19th in the triple jump with a distance of 33'4.0".
