Ackley Sets Triple Jump Mark at Eric Loeschner Memorial Meet

FITCHBURG, Mass. -- Freshman Rachael Ackley (Southboro, MA) set the school record in the triple jump to lead the Bridgewater State College women's outdoor track and field at the Eric Loeschner Memorial meet hosted by Fitchburg State College on Saturday.

Ackley placed fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 34' 6.25" as she bettered the previous BSC standard of 34' 4.25" set by Whitney White in 2006.  She also finished seventh in the long jump with a leap of 15' 2.00".

As a team, the Bears finished in seventh place at the meet with a score of 45 points.  WPI captured the team title with a score of 124 points.

Sophomores Jessica Eidinger (Sutton, MA), Amanda Hauswirth (Methuen, MA) and Carissa Penney, (Gardner, MA) along with freshman Melissa Harris (Uxbridge, MA) teamed up for a first place finish in the 4 x 800-meter relay with a winning time of 10:31.13.  Eidinger also placed eighth in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 5:08.62.

Sophomore Brittany Page (Winthrop, MA) was third in the shot put (32' 4.75"), fifth in the hammer throw (107' 1.00") and eighth in the discus throw (89' 6.00").
