Track Teams Compete at Bernard Solomon Invitational

Results

DEDHAM, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State College men's and women's outdoor track and field teams competed at the Bernard Solomon Husky Invitational on Saturday in rainy conditions at Solomon Track in Dedham.

On the men's side, Senior Avery Bouchard (Fall River, MA) posted a fourth place finish in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:30.62.  Sophomore teammate Ryan D'Arcangelo (Norfolk, MA) finished less than ten seconds behind Bouchard as he placed fifth (15:40.08) in his 5k debut.

Freshman Bill Taft (Hanson, MA) ran 4:14.24 in the 1500-meter run, then came back to post a time of 16:32.27 in the 5000. Taft is quickly becoming one of the most exciting athletes on the team as he also runs the steeple chase, where he has already qualified for the New England Division III Championships.

Freshman Sean Byron (Stoughton, MA) took third in the javelin with a throw of 168'11".

On the women's side, sophomore Amanda Hauswirth (Methuen, MA) place third in the 5,000-meter run with a personal best time of 19:01.49.  She was only a couple seconds off from qualifying for the New England Division III Championships in the event.

Sophomore Jessica Eidinger (Sutton, MA) posted a time of 5:11.84 in the 1,500-meter run, while freshman Colleen Davis (Mansfield, MA) continued her outstanding rookie season as she placed third in the 400-meter hurdles (1:11.12) and fifth in the long jump (14'10.75").

Freshman Rachael Ackley (Southboro, MA) recorded a distance of 34'3.5" in the triple jump, improving on her Division III New England seed and taking third at the meet.
