Track Teams Compete at Husky Spring Open

DEDHAM, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State College outdoor track and field teams competed at the Northeastern Husky Spring Open on Saturday at the Solomon Track in Dedham.

On the men's side, four BSC athletes placed in the top five in their respective events.  Freshman Sean Byron (Stoughton, MA) finished second in the javelin with a throw of 54.82 meters (179'10"), while fellow freshman Bill Taft (Hanson, MA) also placed second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:19.81.

Sophomore Ryan D'Arcangelo (Norfolk, MA) posted a third place finish in the 1,500-meter run (4:11.54), while senior Avery Bouchard (Fall River, MA) crossed the line fifth in the 5,000-meter run (15:29.49).

Freshman Colleen Davis (Mansfield, MA) paced the women's team with a pair of top five finishes.  Davis placed fifth in both the long jump (14'11.50") and the triple jump (31'3.25").

Sophomore Amanda Hauswirth (Methuen, MA) added a fourth place finish in the 5,000-meter run (19:26.13), while freshman Carrie Robitaille (Ludlow, MA) placed fourth in the triple jump (31'3.75").

The BSC outdoor track and field teams will compete at the Snowflake Classic hosted by Tufts University next Saturday at 10 AM.
