DEDHAM, Mass. --- Senior Nicole
Mauro (Mashpee, MA) qualified for the ECAC’s in the
10,000 meter run with a second place time of 37:57.54 as the Bears
continued their season at the Bernard Solomon Track at Northeastern
University this past Saturday. The non-scoring meet held at Solomon
Track in Dedham featured athletes from around New England in all
collegiate divisions along with other participating track
clubs.
Freshman classmates Amanda Hauswirth (Mathuen,
MA), Jessica Eidinger (Sutton, MA), and
Carissa Penney (Gardner, MA) each finished eighth
(5:09.19), tenth (5:13.88), and 16th (5:19.01) respectively in
the 1500. First year sprinter Louise Cornerford
(Billerica, MA) also tallied 11th in the 400.
In the field freshman Brittany Paige (Winthrop,
MA) posted a fifth place finish (30-01) in the shot put and
seventh in the hammer (118-07), while classmate Heather
Roux (Livermore, ME) placed eighth in the discus
(92-05).
In relay action, Bridgewater State’s 4 x 400 relay team took
home fifth with a time of 4:35.73.
The Bears will be entertained by Springfield at the Springfield
Invitational this Saturday at 11 A.M.
