Women's Tennis Downs Plymouth State on Senior Day, 9-0

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University women's tennis team wrapped up regular season play with a 9-0 Little East Conference (LEC) victory over visiting Plymouth State University on Senior Day at the Rosen Memorial Tennis Courts.

The Bears improve to 8-4 on the season and 6-2 in the Little East, while the Panthers fall to 6-6 overall and 4-4 in conference play. Bridgewater State is now 16-5 all-time versus the Panthers and 9-2 at home since the Bears joined the LEC in 2004.

Prior to the match, the Bears honored senior Mackenzie Silveira (Middletown, R.I.) who was playing in her final regular season home match.Bridgewater swept the three doubles matches and each of the six singles flights in the victory over the Panthers.

The Bears' top doubles tandem of sophomore Madeline Von Ruden (Ashley Falls, Mass.) and Abigail Ramer (Sherwood, Ore.) posted an 8-2 decision, while Silveira and junior Allison Carter (Raynham, Mass.) paired up for an 8-2 win at the second flight. Graduate student Vanessa Rosa (Taunton, Mass.) and sophomore Meghan Lotti (Stoneham, Mass.) capped off doubles play with an 8-4 triumph at number three.

The pairing of Rosa and Lotti remain unbeaten on the season with a perfect 5-0 record including a 4-0 mark in LEC play.

Von Ruden (6-1, 6-2), Ramer (6-3, 6-1), Silveira (6-4, 6-4), Rosa (6-3, 6-0), Carter (6-4, 7-6) and Lotti (6-1, 6-0) all won in straight sets in singles competition at the first through sixth flights, respectively.

Lotti recorded her team-leading eighth (8-3) singles victory of the season with six (6-2) of the wins coming against Little East opponents.

The Bears are the #3 seed in next week's Little East Tournament and will host a first round match against #6 Salem State University on Tuesday afternoon. The Panthers are seeded fifth in the tournament and will travel to #4 UMass Dartmouth on Tuesday to take on the Corsairs. Match times have yet to be officially announced.
