BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University women's tennis team posted a 7-2 victory over visiting UMass Dartmouth in a Little East Conference (LEC) match on Friday afternoon at the Rosen Memorial Tennis Courts.

The Bears improve to 5-4 on the season and 3-2 in the Little East, while the Corsairs fall to 9-3 overall and 4-1 mark in conference play. Bridgewater State is 13-11 versus UMD and 5-5 at home since the Bears joined the Little East in 2004.

The Bears swept the three doubles matches and captured four of the six singles flights.

In doubles play, senior Mackenzie Silveira (Middletown, R.I.) and junior Allison Carter (Raynham, Mass.) cruised to an 8-0 victory at the second flight, while graduate student Vanessa Rosa (Taunton, Mass.) and sophomore Meghan Lotti (Stoneham, Mass.) posted an 8-3 decision at the third spot. The Bears' tandem of sophomore Madeline Von Ruden (Ashley Falls, Mass.) and junior Abigail Ramer (Sherwood, Ore.) battled to an 8-7 (7-5) decision at number one to complete the doubles sweep.

The Bears received straight set singles wins by Ramer, Rosa, Carter and Lotti at the second (6-4, 7-5), fourth (6-4, 6-3), fifth (6-2, 7-5) and sixth (6-4, 6-2) flights, respectively, to secure the match victory.

The Bears travel to Salem State University on Tuesday afternoon for a three o'clock Little East match with the Vikings. The Corsairs entertain conference foe UMass Boston on Saturday afternoon at one.

Notes: Today's match marked the Corsairs first visit to the Rosen Courts since 2016. Each of the last six meetings of the two teams, including a pair of LEC Tournament matches, had been played at the UMD Tennis Courts.
