Cailey Simard Named Little East Diver of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the third straight week and ninth time this season, Bridgewater State University sophomore Cailey Simard has been selected as the Little East Conference (LEC) Women's Diver of the Week.

Simard set a pair of school records to lead the Bears to a 209-59 win over Little East Conference foe Plymouth State University. The Haverhill, Massachusetts placed first in the one-meter diving competition with a score of 316.70 points as she eclipsed her own six-dive standard of 303.10 points set last season against Babson College. Simard then took down her own school mark on three-meter board with a six-dive score of 316.45 points surpassing the previous record of 306.45 points set earler this season at the BSU Invitational.

Simard also swept the diving events in a 117-114 victory over LEC rival Eastern Connecticut State University as she posted a score of 296.65 points on the one-meter board as well as 296.75 points on the three-meter.

Simard currently ranks 20th in all of Division III on the three-meter board for a six-dive event and 29th on the one-meter. She is also seventh in all of Division III on the one-meter for an 11-dive event.

The LEC Diver of the Week honor marks the 17th of Simard's career. She also garnered the accolade eight times as a rookie in 2022-2023.

The BSU swimming and diving teams are off untill the Little East Conference Championships. The four-day meet will open with the three-meter diving competition on Thursday, February 15th at Babson College. The final three days of the championship meet will take place at the Boston Sports Institute in Wellesley, Massachusetts.
