Four Bears Named to CSC Academic All-District® One Women's Swimming & Diving Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Four members of the Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving program have been selected to the 2023-2024 Academic All-District® One Division III Women's Swimming & Diving Team by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).

Earning the honor from Bridgewater State are seniors Camryn Beals and Jenna Maxim, junior Brynn Murray and sophomore Cailey Simard. Maxim and Murray are making their second straight appearance on the Academic All-District® One Team.

The Bears accounted for four of the 11 student-athletes from the Little East Conference (LEC) named to the Academic All-District® One Division III Women's Swimming & Diving Team.

The 2023-2024 Academic All-District® Women’s Swimming & Diving Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances in the pool and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes swimming & diving honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

To be eligible for all-academic honors, a student-athlete must be a significant contributor, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at her current institution and be nominated by her sports information director. A student-athlete must have also competed in at least 50% of the team's contests for the 2023-2024 season.

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced later this month.

Beals, who hails from Middleboro, Massachusetts, is an early childhood education major with a perfect 4.0 grade point average. Maxim, who calls Lakeville, Massachusetts home, currently sports a 3.88 GPA while majoring in health science. A Chelmsford, Massachusetts product, Murray is majoring in elementary education while maintaining an impressive 3.94 GPA. A native of Haverhill, Massachusetts, Simard is majoring in physical education and checks in with a 3.80 GPA.

Beals, Maxim, Murray and Simard helped the BSU women's swimming & diving team place second at the Little East Championships this past February.

Beals finished 11th in the 200 individual medley, 14th in the 50 backstroke and 15th in the 400 IM at the Little East Championships.

Maxim earned All-Little East honors in the 100 backstroke (3rd place) and 200 backstroke (3rd place), and swam a leg on the Bears' all-conference 200 medley relay squad (2nd place).

Murray garnered All-Little East accolades with a third-place performance in the 200 freestyle while competing on a pair of all-conference relays, the 200 freestyle (3rd place) and the 800 freestyle (3rd place).

Simard captured Little East Diver of the Year honors for the second straight season as she placed first and set school and meet records on both the one-meter and three-meter boards. A nine-time LEC Diver of the Week recipient in 2023-2024, Simard qualified for the NCAA Division III Northeast/North Regional Diving Championships for the second straight season and placed seventh on the three-meter board and eighth on the one-meter at the championship meet.
