BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman Cailey Simard was selected as the Little East Conference (LEC) Women's Diver and Rookie Diver of the Year.

Simard swept the diving events this past weekend at the 2023 Little East Swimming & Diving Championships. The Haverhill, Massachusetts product posted an 11-dive score of 436.70 points on the one-meter board and 440.40 points on the three-meter to earn the league title in both events. Simard also set both school and meet records on both boards.

Earlier this season, Simard qualified for the NCAA Division III Northeast/North Regional Diving Championships in both the one-meter and three-meter competitions. The regional championships will take place on February 24th and 25th at New York University. Simard is the first BSU female diver to qualify for the regional championships and just the second diver in the history of the Bears' swimming & diving program (Andy Fuccillo, 2003).

Simard currently ranks 44th in all of Division III on the three-meter board (305.75 pts.) and 68th on the one-meter (303.10 pts.) for a six-dive event.

Simard was selected Little East Diver of the Week seven times during the 2022-2023 campaign and LEC Rookie Diver of the Week on eight occasions.
