Cailey Simard Named Little East Diver & Rookie Diver of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman Cailey Simard has been selected as the Little East Conference (LEC) Women's Diver and Rookie Diver of the Week.

Simard won both diving events in the Bears' 174-46 victory over Little East foe Plymouth State University this past weekend at the PSU Natatorium. The Haverhill, Massachusetts product posted a score of 264.15 points on the one-meter board and 269.00 points on the three-meter. Simard's score in the three-meter diving competition was a PSU pool record.

Simard has officially qualified for the NCAA Division III North/Northeast Regional Diving Championships in both the one-meter and three-meter competitions. The regional championships will take place on February 24th and 25th at a site to be determined. Simard is the first BSU female diver to qualify for the regional championships and just the second diver in the history of the Bears' swimming & diving program (Andy Fuccillo, 2003).

Simard currently ranks 44th in all of Division III on the three-meter board (305.75 pts.) and 68th on the one-meter (303.10 pts.).

The LEC Rookie Diver of the Week honor marks the eighth of the season for Simard who has also been selected Diver of the Week seven times.

The Bears are off until Thursday, February 16th when they compete at the four-day Little East Conference Championships held at the Boston Sports Institute in Wellesley.
