Cailey Simard Named Little East Diver & Rookie Diver of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman Cailey Simard has been selected as the Little East Conference (LEC) Women's Diver and Rookie Diver of the Week.

Simard broke a 14-year old school record on the one-meter diving board this past weekend in a 169.50-69.50 victory over Little East foe UMass Dartmouth. The Haverhill, Massachusetts product posted a first-place score of 272.05 points on the one-meter board as she eclipsed BSU Hall of Famer (and Bears' diving coach) Jennifer Jackson's 2008 mark for a six-dive event of 263.05 points. Simard also captured top honors at the meet on the three-meter plank with a season-best score of 249.45 points.

Simard, who achieved one of two required qualifying standards for the NCAA Division III Championships on the one-meter board, currently ranks 24th in all of Division III on the one-meter (240.30 pts.) and 39th on the three-meter.

The LEC Rookie Diver of the Week honor marks the fourth of the season for Simard who has also been selected Diver of the Week three times.

The BSU swimming & diving teams are off until Saturday, December 3rd when the Bears host the BSU Invitational at noon.
