Simard Headlines Bears' Seven Representatives on All-Little East Women's Swimming & Diving Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - The Little East Conference (LEC) formally announced the 2022-2023 women’s swimming & diving all-conference team on Wednesday. All-conference recognition was determined by individual performances at last week’s LEC Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships.

Under the guidance of the LEC Coach of the Year, Mike Caruso, the BSU women's swimming & diving team had seven different student-athletes earn All-Little East accolades. LEC individual and relay champions garnered first team honors on the all-conference team while second place finishers were named to the All-Little East Second Team.

BSU freshman Cailey Simard (Haverhill, Mass.) swept the diving events at the Little East Championships as she picked up a pair of All-Little East First Team awards. The LEC Diver and Rookie Diver of the Year, posted an 11-dive score of 436.70 points on the one-meter board and 440.40 points on the three-meter to earn the league title in both events. Simard also set school and meet records on both boards.

Junior Olivia Ranck (Wilbraham, Mass.) and senior Hannah Geoffrion (Barnstable, Mass.) earned All-Little East Second Team accolades for the Bears. Ranck, who produced a team-best 51 points at the meet, finished second in the 100 backstroke (1:01.42), 200 backstroke (2:13.73) and 100 individual medley (1:03.58). She also set school records in both the 100 back and 200 back. Geoffrion posted a second-place performance in the 200 butterfly (2:23.58).

The Bears' 800 freestyle relay squad featuring sophomores Brianna Matte (Cumberland, R.I.), Brynn Murray (Chelmsford, Mass.), Olivia Pelletier (East Kingston, N.H.), and freshman Emily Bradford (Pittsfield, Mass.) rounded out Bridgewater State's all-conference honorees. The foursome posted a time of 8:36.09 to place second in the event.
