Simard, Ranck Set School Marks to Lead Women's Swimming & Diving at LEC Championships

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- A pair of school records fell as the Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving team competed on Friday at the 2023 Little East Conference Swimming & Diving Championships.

Freshman Cailey Simard (Haverhill, Mass.) placed first in the preliminary round of the one-meter diving competition with an 11-dive score of 418.05 points. Simard eclipsed the previous BSU school mark of 383.75 points set by Elizabeth Lamarre in 2015 at the NEISDA Championships. She also shattered the meet record of 358.80 points set last season by former teammate Alexa Wilson.

Simard now owns four of the Bears' five diving records.

Junior Olivia Ranck (Wilbraham, Mass.) placed second in the 200 backstroke with a school-record time of 2:13.73. Ranck broke the previous BSU mark of 2:13.79 set by Haley Nolan in 2018.

The Bears' 400 medley relay squad featuring Ranck, sophomore Samantha White (Plymouth, Mass.), senior Hannah Geoffrion (Barnstable, Mass.) and sophomore Olivia Pelletier (East Kingston, N.H.) came within less than a second of the school record of 4:17.33 set back in 2008. The foursome posted a time of 4:18.00 to place fourth in the event.

The four-day championship meet continues on Saturday morning with events getting underway at ten o'clock.
