Women's Swimming & Diving Cruises to 174-46 Victory Over Plymouth State

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The visiting Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving team closed out the dual meet portion of the schedule with a decisive 174-46 victory over Little East Conference (LEC) foe Plymouth State University on Saturday afternoon at the PSU Natatorium.

The Bears (5-8) captured top honors in 11 of 13 events.

Senior Makayla Paquin (North Easton, Mass.) recorded a career-best time of 1:00.38 in the 100 freestyle, while junior Jenna Maxim (Lakeville, Mass.) posted a personal-best time of 1:05.26 in the 100 backstroke.

Paquin also swam on each of the Bears' winning relay teams. The 200 medley relay squad featuring Paquin, sophomore Samantha White (Plymouth, Mass.), senior Hannah Geoffrion (Barnstable, Mass.) and sophomore Brynn Murray (Chelmsford, Mass.) produced a time of 2:07.68. Paquin, Murray, junior Olivia Ranck (Wilbraham, Mass.) and senior Danielle Vissering (North Andover, Mass.) placed first in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:50.96.

Geoffrion added a first-place performance in the 100 butterfly (1:08.73), while Murray was the first to touch the wall in the 500 freestyle (6:02.51) and Ranck grabbed top honors in the 100 individual medley (1:07.89).

Freshman Cailey Simard (Haverhill, Mass.) won both diving events as she posted a score of 264.15 points on the one-meter board and 269.00 points on the three-meter. Simard's score in the three-meter diving competition was a pool record.

Freshman Emily Bradford (Pittsfield, Mass.) competed in the 1,000 freestyle for the first time this season and won the event with a time of 12:33.77.

Sophomore Brianna Matte (Cumberland, R.I.) rounded out the Bears' event winners with a victory in the 200 freestyle (2:16.76).

The Bears are off until Thursday, February 16th when they compete at the four-day Little East Conference Championships held at the Boston Sports Institute in Wellesley.
