Simard Breaks Pair of Diving Marks to Lead Women's Swimming & Diving on Senior Day

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Freshman Cailey Simard (Haverhill, Mass.) shattered both diving records to lead the Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving team on Senior Day at the Moriarty Pool.

The Bears (4-8) dropped a 203-87 decision to visiting Beavers of Babson College. Babson improves to 6-7 in dual meet competition on the season.

Simard, who won both diving events, posted a score of 303.10 points on the one-meter board as she easily eclipsed her own school mark of 276.05 points set earlier this week. Simard also recorded a score of 305.75 points in the three-meter diving competition outdistancing the previous program record of 293.40 points set by BSU Hall of Famer and current Bears' diving coach Jennifer Jackson in 2008.

Senior Angelina Vuong (Rockland, Mass.) placed second one both the one-meter and three-meter diving boards. Vuong tallied a season-best score of 153.50 points on the one-meter and a career-best score of 169.60 points on the three-meter.

Sophomore Brynn Murray (Chelmsford, Mass.), junior Olivia Ranck (Wilbraham, Mass.) and freshman Emily Bradford (Pittsfield, Mass.) also posted second place finishes for the Bears, Murray in the 200 freestyle (2:09.57), Ranck in the 100 breaststroke (1:17.42) and Bradford in the 500 freestyle (5:58.36).  Ranck's time in the 100 breaststroke marked a season-best, while her 50 split time (36.17) was a career-best.

Prior to the meet, the Bears honored Vuong, Hannah Geoffrion (Barnstable, Mass.), Selin Marino (East Greenwich, R.I.) Alex Molinari (Chelmsford, Mass.) Makayla Paquin (North Easton, Mass.), Gabriella Rivera (Hanover, Mass.) and Danielle Vissering (North Andover, Mass.).

The BSU swimming and diving teams wrap up regular season competition next Saturday when the Bears travel to Plymouth State University to take on the Panthers at noon.
