Simard Eclipses One-Meter Diving Mark to Lead Women's Swimming & Diving at Tri-Meet

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Freshman Cailey Simard (Haverhill, Mass.) broke her own school record in the one-meter diving competition to lead the Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving team on Saturday afternoon at the Moriarty Pool as the Bears hosted a tri-meet with Brandeis University and Little East Conference rival Keene State College.

The Bears (4-6) fell to Brandeis, 178-107, and dropped a 202-96 decision to Keene State. Brandeis swept the tri-meet as the Judges (5-6) downed the Owls (4-4), 149-138.

Simard recorded a score of 274.40 points to place first on the one-meter board. She eclipsed her previous BSU mark of 273.75 points set at the BSU Invitational back on December 3rd..

Simard also captured top honors on the three-meter plank with a career-best score of 258.85 points.

Junior Olivia Ranck (Wilbraham, Mass.) placed second in the 50 backstroke with a time of 30.36 seconds, while classmate Jenna Maxim (Lakeville, Mass.) finished third in the event with a time of 30.66 seconds.

Senior Angelina Vuong (Rockland, Mass.) placed third in the three-meter diving competition with a career-best score of 151.50 points.

The quartet of sophomores Brynn Murray (Chelmsford, Mass.) and Olivia Pelletier (East Kingston, N.H.), and seniors Danielle Vissering (North Andover, Mass.) and Makayla Paquin (North Easton, Mass.) finished third in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 4:05.58.

The BSU swimming and diving teams are back in action on Wednesday evening as the Bears entertain Bentley University at six o'clock.
