Women's Swimming & Diving Drops 218-70 Decision to Roger Williams

BRISTOL, R.I. -- The Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving team dropped a 218-70 decision to Roger Williams University on Saturday afternoon at the RWU Aquatics Center.

The Hawks improve to 1-1 in dual meet competition on the season, while the Bears fall to 3-4.

Bridgewater State swept the diving competition as the Bears finished 1-2-3 on both boards.

Graduate student Alexa Wilson (Centerville, Mass.) captured top honors on the one-meter board with a score of 231.4 points. Freshman Cailey Simard (Haverhill, Mass.) placed second with 220.1 points, while senior Angelina Vuong (Rockland, Mass.) was third with 141.4 points.

Simard won the three-meter diving event with a score of 232.2 points. Wilson notched 196.8 points to place second and Vuong rounded out the top three with 138.5 points.

Sophomore Brynn Murray (Chelmsford, Mass.) finished third in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:08.12.

The BSU foursome of Murray, senior Makayla Paquin (North Easton, Mass.), freshman Olivia Pelletier (Middleboro, Mass.) and sophomore Brianna Matte (Cumberland, R.I.) placed fourth in the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:45.04.

Paquin, fellow senior Danielle Vissering (North Andover, Mass.), sophomore Samantha White (Plymouth, Mass.) and junior Olivia Ranck (Wilbraham, Mass.) teamed up to finish fourth in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:54.89.

The Bears also received fourth place performances from Ranck in the 1,000 freestyle (12:40.93), 200 backstroke (2:24.24) and 400 individual medley (5:24.91); Murray in the 100 butterfly (1:13.79) and freshman Emily Bradford (Pittsfield, Mass.) in the 500 freestyle (6:05.42).

The Bears are off until Saturday, December 3rd when they host the BSU Invitational at noon.
