Women's Swimming & Diving Falls to Eastern Connecticut

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. -- The Bridgewater State College women's swimming and diving team dropped a 117-65 decision to host Eastern Connecticut State University this afternoon in Willimantic, Connecticut.

Lauren Phinney (Holbrook, MA) and Bryn Morwick (Indianapolis, IN) each won two events for Bridgewater and also contributed to the winning 200 yard freestyle relay. Phinney, a freshman, captured the 200 and 500 yard freestyle events and Morwick the 100 yard freestyle and 400 yard individual medley.

Jessica Wilson and Katie Curran each had the fastest times in two events for Eastern, whose swimmers had the fastest times in nine of 14 events. Curran won the 50 and 100 yard backstroke and Wilson had the fastest time in the 50 and 100 yard breaststroke. Curran broke her own week-old program record in the 100 yard backstroke in a time of 1:04.89 besting her previous record of 1:05:17 set at last Saturday's Little East Conference Championship.

Others who had the fastest times for Eastern were  Sarah Dombrowski (1,000 yard freestyle), Amy Arisco (100 yard butterfly), Kelsy Doheny (50 yard freestyle) and Nadine Menard (50 yard butterfly).  Eastern opened the meet by winning the 200 yard medley relay behind Curran, freshman Stephanie O'Kelly, Arisco, and Doheny.
