Women's Swim Team in 15th Place at NEISDA Championships

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. -- The Bridgewater State College women's swim team is in 15th place in a 22-team field after the first day of action at the three-day New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Division II/III Championships held at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center in White River Junction, Vermont.

The Bears tallied 31 points during the first day of events. Keene State is in first place with 337 points followed by Bentley University with 305.

Two relay teams and two individual event swimmers were in Friday evening's finals.

The 200 freestyle relay team of freshmen Bridget Hasson (Milton, MA) and Loren Phinney (Holbrook, MA) and juniors Jennifer Bechthold (Palmer, MA) and Kristen Slagmolen (Woburn, MA) was 15th in the event with a time of 1:49.56.  The 400 medley relay team consisting of Hasson, Phinney, Slagmolen and freshman Rhiannon White (Falmouth, MA) finished in 17th place with a time of 4:35.09.

White posted a 13th place finish in the 100 buttefly (1:02.90), while Phinney was ninth in the 200 backstroke (2:19.54).

The championship meet will continue Saturday and conclude on Sunday.
