Women’s Swim Team Edges UMass Dartmouth, 146-141

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. - The Bridgewater State College women's swimming and diving team knocked off host UMass Dartmouth, 146-141, this evening at the Tripp Athletic Center in North Dartmouth.

At the 16-event meet, the Bears placed first in eight events, second in seven and third in ten. BSC remains undefeated on the season as they open up the 2008-2009 campaign with their third straight win.

Junior Bryn Morwick (Indianapolis, IN) and seniors Sarah Fuller (Palmer, MA) and Erica Robinson (Lynn, MA) led BSC to the very close win.  Morwick won three individual events while Fuller and Robinson captured two apiece. The trio also swam along with sophomore Lindsey Hatton (Westfield, MA) on the winning 400 freestyle relay team (4:04.31).

Morwick posted victories in the 200 freestyle (2:06.57), 100 butterfly (1:04.43) and 200 individual medley (2:21.49). Fuller placed first in both the 50 freestyle (:27.66) and 100 freestyle (:59.59), while Robinson picked up wins in the 50 backstroke (:31.38) and 100 backstroke (1:07.33). 

Bridgewater State (3-0) returns to UMass on Saturday as the Bears will compete in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.
