Women's Swim Team Falls to WPI, 155-127

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- WPI women's swimming and diving racked up twelve victories en route to a 155-127 win over Bridgewater State College on Saturday afternoon.  With the win, the Engineers wrap up the dual meet portion of their schedule with a record of 2-7. BSC completes the 2008-2009 season with a dual meet record of 5-8.  

Freshman Alana Aubin (Taunton, MA) led the way for the Engineers with a trio of wins including the 50 (28.72) and 100 (1:02.8) butterfly events and the 100 freestyle (57.07).   Classmates Toni LaBella (Warrick, RI) and Kaitlyn Kelley (Salt Lake City, UT) each picked up a pair of victories with LaBella touching the wall first in the 50 (32.16) and 100 (1:06.1) backstroke and Kelley in the 50 (26.99) and 500 (5:52.6) freestyle. 

Junior Morgan Guardino (Manchester, CT) dove to two wins of her own, placing first in the one-meter (212.98) and three-meter (209.5) diving events.

Senior Sarah Fuller (Palmer, MA) and sophomore Renee Marcos (Lakeville, MA) each won individual events for the Bears.  Fuller placed first in the 200 freestyle (2:06.99), while Marcos was the top performer in the 1,000 freestyle (12:04.17).

BSC's other two wins came in the 200 freestyle relay (1:48.26) and the 200 medley relay (2:01.27).

Bridgewater and WPI are both off until February 20th.  The Bears will compete in the three-day NEISDA Division II/III Championships at UMass Dartmouth, while WPI will take part in the three-day NEWMAC Championships hosted by MIT.
