Women's Swim Team Drops 148-117 Decision to Babson

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - The Bridgewater State College women's swimming and diving team dropped a 148-117 decision to visiting Babson College this evening at the Mary Jo Moriarty Pool in Bridgewater.

Babson placed first in 11 of the first 14 events to come away with the victory.  The Beavers wrap up their dual meet schedule with a record of 7-8.  Bridgewater falls to 5-7 on the season in dual meet competition.

Sophomore Mia Filippini (Lake Forest, IL) paced the Beavers with three individual wins to go along with a first place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:57.28).  Filippini placed first in the 50 backstroke (:29.50), 100 backstroke (1:04.49) and the 50 butterfly (:27.53).

Junior Bryn Morwick (Indianapolis, IN) won a pair of events for the Bears as she placed first in both the 100 butterfly (1:03.45) and the 200 individual medley (2:19.54).  Sophomore Renee Marcos (Lakeville, MA) was also victorious in the one-meter diving competition as she posted a score of 194.30 points.

The Bears wrap up the dual meet portion of their schedule with a home meet versus WPI on Saturday beginning at 2 PM.  Babson will compete in the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships on February 20, 21 and 22 at MIT.
