Bridgewater State Bears Swim Past Westfield State, 136-115

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - Sophomore Bryn Morwick (Indianapolis, IN) placed first in three events to lead the Bridgewater State College women's swimming and diving team to a 136-115 victory over Westfield State this afternoon from the Mary Jo Moriarty Pool in Bridgewater.

With the win, Bridgewater improves its' meet record to 7-2 on the season while Westfield slips to 5-2.

Morwick placed first in both the 1,000 and 500 freestyle events posting times of 11:32.27 and 5:38.23 respectively. She also swam on the Bears' winning 200 medley relay squad.  Juniors Jillian Coache (New Bedford, MA), Sarah Fuller (Palmer, MA) and Erica Robinson (Lynn, MA) joined Morwick on the relay team which recorded a time of 2:01.73.

Coache also captured a first place finish in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:20.19, while Fuller won the 100 freestyle event sporting a time of :59.96.

Senior Jen Jackson (Randolph, MA) placed first in both diving events as she registered a score of 214.1 on the one-meter board and 251.2 on the three-meter.

Coache, Fuller, Morwick and Robinson would have also won the 400 freestyle relay (3:57.51), but swam the event as an exhibition.  Coache posted what would have been a winning time of 2:18.87 in the 200 individual medley but swam that as an exhibition as well.

Freshmen Chelsea Bedard (Sutton, MA) and Renee Marcos (Lakeville, MA), and sophomore Erin Bentley (Fall River, MA) also won events for the Bears. Bedard won the 50 freestyle (:27.29), Marcos the 50 butterfly (:30.48) and Bentley the 200 breaststroke (2:46.84).

The Bears will be back in the pool on Tuesday night at 6 as the Bears travel to Wheaton College for a tri-meet with Wheaton and Bentley College.
