BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior defender Sydney Dewhurst has been selected to the 2023 United Soccer Coaches Division III Women’s Soccer All-Region Two Team.

Dewhurst is one of three members from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) to earn all-region accolades. She is joined by junior forward Delaney Parker and junior defender Jaida Cochran of Westfield State University. Dewhurst and Parker are second team selections while Cochran garnered third team honors.

Dewhurst tallied ten goals and six assists for 26 points in 18 games (all starts) this season as she led the Bears in all three categories as well as game-winning goals with four. The East Bridgewater, Massachusetts native tied for the MASCAC lead in game-winning goals, ranked third in the conference in both goals and scoring, and tied for fourth in assists.

In 27 games over two seasons with the Bears, Dewhurst has amassed 13 goals (five game-winners) and nine assists for 35 points.

Earlier this month, Dewhurst was selected to the All-MASCAC First Team. She was also named to the Academic All-District® One Division III Women's Soccer Team by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).

Dewhurst helped the BSU women's soccer team post a 11-6-1 record in 2023 including a perfect 7-0 conference mark as the Bears captured the MASCAC regular season title.

Notes: Dewhurst is just the third Bear to earn United Soccer Coaches (formerly the NSCAA) all-region honors since Kailtin Lamothe in 2008. Teammate Megan Keller and former teammate Michelle Belcher garnered the accolade last season.
