Six Bears Named to CSC Academic All-District® One Women's Soccer Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Six members of the Bridgewater State University women's soccer program have been selected to the 2023 Academic All-District® One Division III Women's Soccer Team by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).

Earning the honor from Bridgewater State are senior midfielder Makenna Lessard, senior forward Audra McDuffie, junior defender Sydney Dewhurst, sophomore forward Olivia Robarge, sophomore defender Lauren Sellmayer and sophomore midfielder Jenna Sweeney.

Joining the six Bears on the 2023 Academic All-District® One Division III Women's Soccer Team from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) is MCLA graduate student Alyssa Porter and Worcester State University sophomore Erin Condon.

McDuffie is a two-time member of the CSC Academic All-District® One Division III Women's Soccer Team as she also earned the honor in 2022.

The 2023 Academic All-District® Women’s Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

To be eligible for all-academic honors, a student-athlete must be a starter or a key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at her current institution and be nominated by her sports information director. A student-athlete must have also played in at least 90% of her team's contests for the 2023 season or started in 66% of the games.

Lessard is a health science major with a 3.58 grade point average. The East Bridgewater, Massachusetts resident appeared in all 36 games over the last two season, including 34 starts, after transferring from Bryant University. She recorded two goals and three assists for seven points.

A Millbury, Massachusetts product, McDuffie is majoring in elementary education and checks in with a 3.72 GPA. In 47 games over three seasons on the BSU soccer pitch, McDuffie notched 12 goals (five GWG) and seven assists for 31 points. She was named to the All-MASCAC Team in 2021.

A native of East Bridgewater, Massachusetts. Dewhurst is majoring in graphic design and sports a 3.74 GPA. In 27 games over two seasons with the Bears, Dewhurst has amassed 13 goals (five game-winners) and nine assists for 35 points. She earned All-MASCAC First Team accolades in 2023 and was a three-time MASCAC Player of the Week.

Robarge, who hails from Pepperell, Massachusetts, currently sports a 3.84 GPA while majoring in elementary education. A 2023 All-MASCAC selection, Robarge has played in 36 games (23 starts) for the Bears over her first two seasons and has eight goals (three GWG) and two assists for 18 points.

A biology and secondary education major, Sellmayer has produced an impressive 3.94 GPA since arriving at Bridgewater State. The North Easton, Massachusetts product has played and started 30 games in the defensive backfield over her first two seasons and has four assists to her credit.

Sweeney, who calls Wilmington, Massachusetts home, is a criminal justice major with a 3.51 GPA. A 2023 All-MASCAC honoree, Sweeney has three goals and an assist for seven points in 36 career games over her first two seasons in a BSU uniform.

Lessard, McDuffie, Dewhurst, Robarge, Sellmayer and Sweeney helped the BSU women's soccer team post a 11-6-1 record in 2023 including a perfect 7-0 conference mark as the Bears captured the MASCAC regular season title.
