Sydney Sousa Named MASCAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore midfielder Sydney Sousa has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women’s Soccer Player of the Week.

Sousa potted three goals in a 1-0-1 week for the Bears. The Dartmouth, Massachusetts product tallied a pair of goals in a 5-4 victory over Roger Williams University, and found the back of the net in a 1-1 MASCAC tie with Fitchburg State University.

Sousa is currently tied for seventh among the MASCAC leaders in goals with three.

In 25 games over two seasons with the Bears, Sousa has recorded four goals and one assist for nine points.

Sousa is the Bears' third MASCAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week selection this season as she joins teammateMichelle Belcher (Norton, Mass.) who earned the honor twice.

The BSU women's soccer team is currently 6-2-2 on the season and 2-0-1 in the MASCAC. The Bears entertain UMass Dartmouth on Tuesday night at seven o'clock.
