BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior midfielder Makenna Lessard has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week.

Lessard scored a pair of goals in a perfect 2-0 week for the Bears. The East Bridgewater, Massachusetts native potted her first collegiate goal in a 6-1 non-conference win over Salve Regina University, and converted a penalty kick in a 6-0 MASCAC victory over Salem State University.

In six games this season, Lessard has recorded two goals and an assist for five points. She is currently tied for fifth in the MASCAC in goals and tied for seventh in scoring.

Lessard is the Bears' second straight MASCAC Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week recipient as teammate Logan Levesque (Bristol, R.I.) earned the honor last Monday.

The BSU women's soccer team is currently 4-1-1 on the season. The Bears entertain Brandeis University on Tuesday night at seven o'clock.
