Women's Soccer Wraps Up Regular Season Play with 3-0 Victory Over MCLA

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. –The Bridgewater State University women's soccer team wrapped up regular season play with a 3-0 shutout victory over MCLA in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) matchup on Saturday afternoon at Shewcraft Field.

The Bears improve to 10-5-2 on the season and 5-1-1 in the MASCAC, while the Trailblazers end the season with an overall record of 2-10-3 (0-6-1 MASCAC). Bridgewater State is seeded second in next week's MASCAC Tournament and will have a first round bye. The Bears will host a semifinal round game on Friday night at seven.

The Bears potted all three goals in the first half.

Freshman forward Skylar Conrad (Walpole, Mass.) headed home a volley sent into the box by senior forward Michelle Belcher (Norton, Mass.) to open the scoring less than three minutes into the game. Senior forward Erin Clancey (Middletown, R.I.) also assisted on Conrad's second goal of the season.

An own goal extended the lead to 2-0 in the 14th minute. A close-range shot by Belcher was cleared of the line by an MCLA defender. The clearance attempt, however, caromed off another MCLA defender and into the back of the net.

Belcher tallied her team leading 11th goal of the season in the 16th minute to cap off the first-half scoring. After dribbling through multiple defenders, Belcher corralled a return pass from Conrad and tapped a shot into a wide open net.

The Bears finished with a decided 44-3 shot advantage for the game as well as a 5-0 edge in corner kicks attempts.

BSU freshman goalkeeper Logan Levesque (Bristol, R.I.) was forced to make just one save as she recorded her tenth win of the season and sixth shutout.

Senior netminder Jillian Currier (Troy, N.Y.) was very busy between the pipes for the Trailblazers as she turned aside 20 shots. Currier finished the season with 199 saves.
