Women's Soccer Drops 1-0 Decision to Westfield State

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- Freshman forward Bella Eduardo (Springfield, Mass.) scored the game's only goal in the 38th minute to lift the Westfield State University women's soccer team to a 1-0 shutout victory over visiting Bridgewater State University in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) contest on Saturday evening at Alumni Field.

The host Owls improve to 7-6-2 on the season and 4-1-1 in the MASCAC, while the Bears fall to 5-5-4 overall and 4-1-1 in conference play.

Eduardo buried a shot inside the left post from 25 yards out to account for all the scoring in the game. The unassisted tally marker her team-leading fifth goal of the season.

Bridgewater State held a slight 9-8 shot advantage for the game, while Westfield State led in corner kicks, 4-2.

Sophomore goalkeeper Natalia Falcone (Sutton, Mass.) made four saves to record her fifth shutout of the season between the pipes for the Owls.

BSU junior netminder Lauren DeSousa (Taunton, Mass.) turned aside two shots in the setback.

Westfield State will travel to Keene State College on Wednesday for a 5:00 p.m match. Bridgewater State will host UMass Boston on Tuesday night at seven.
