Women's Soccer Battles MCLA to Scoreless Double Overtime Draw

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University and host MCLA played to a 0-0 double-overtime draw in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) women's soccer tilt on Saturday afternoon at Shewcraft Field. The game marked the MASCAC opener for both teams.

The Bears held a dominating 27-2 shot advantage for the game as well as a 10-0 edge in corner kicks. The Bears, however, were unable to solve MCLA freshman netminder Megan Richardson (Adams, Mass.). Richardson finished with 13 saves on the afternoon, including seven in the second half and three in overtime, as she recorded her third shutout of the season.

BSU junior goaltender Lauren DeSousa (Taunton, Mass.) was untested throughout the contest as she saw just two off-target shots. DeSousa notched her third straight shutout of the season. She also has ten shutouts in 23 games since joining the Bears prior to last season.

Freshman forward Alana Vincent (Taunton, Mass.) led all players with six shots including three on frame.

In upcoming action, the Bears (1-2-2, 0-0-1 MASCAC) travel to Salve Regina University on Tuesday afternoon for a 3:30 game with the Seahawks. The Trailblazers (1-2-2, 0-0-1 MASCAC) entertain SUNY Poly on Wednesday evening at six.
