SOUTH YARMOUTH, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University women's soccer team became the only team of the six that competed in the 2012 ECAC Division III Soccer Classic on the Cape to finish with a 2-0 record as the Bears defeated SUNY-Purchase College, 5-0.

The Bears opened the scoring in the seventh minute as junior midfielder Katie Nasuti (Millbury, Mass.) took a centering pass from sophomore forward Emily Lane (Parsonsfield, Maine) and shot from the right side of the box to the lower left corner.

Bridgewater scored three more times prior to the end of the stanza. Sophomore forward Lauren Bandoian (Medford, Mass.) redirected a shot from junior Olivia Creonte (Waltham, Mass), while both junior forward Caley McClendon (Keene, N.H.) and senior Melanie Thompson (Abington, Mass.) notched unassisted tallies.
