Women's Soccer Blanks Mass. Maritime, 6-0

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University blanked visiting Massachusetts Maritime Academy, 6-0, in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon.

The host Bears improve to 10-6-1 on the season and 4-2 in the MASCAC, while the Buccaneers slip to 2-12 overall and 0-6 in conference play.

Six different players found the back of the net for the hosts.  Senior midfielder Jordan McDermott (East Bridgewater, Mass.) paced the Bears with a goal and an assist.  Senior defender Jade Kluver (Westerly, R.I.), sophomore forward Katie Johnson (Marshfield, Mass.), sophomore midfielder Katie Nasuti (Millbury, Mass.), senior forward Amber LaPorte (New Hartford, Conn.), sophomore midfielder Emma Correia (Mattapoisett, Mass.) also scored for Bridgewater. Kluver's goal came on a penalty kick.

Junior Kristen Rowe (Burlington, Mass.) and sophomore Kerry Condon (Whitman, Mass.) combined to make two saves in goal for the Bears with Rowe picking up her fourth win of the season.

Senior Emily Welsh (Shelton, Mass.) turned aside eight shots in 45 minutes of work for the Buccaneers.  Junior Kim Courcy (Warwick, R.I.) came on to start the second half and made 11 saves in her 45 minutes of action.

Bridgewater travels to MCLA next Saturday for a one o'clock MASCAC game with the Trailblazers.  Mass. Maritime host conference foe Salem State University on Saturday at noon.
