Box Score

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- Senior forward Kaitlin Lamothe (Wrentham, MA) tallied a goal and an assist, and fellow senior Ashley Spingler (West Springfield, AM) recorded her first shutout of the season, to lead the Bridgewater State College women's soccer team to a 2-0 MASCAC win over Framingham State this morning at Maple Street Field in Framingham.

Lamothe scored the game-winner in the 71st minute off a cross from fellow senior Ashley Losi (Weymouth, MA).  The goal was her 18th of the season which is one behind the school single-season record of 19 goals set by Kathy Conley in 1992. The Bears would seal the win with an insurance goal in the 84th minutes as Lamothe connected with junior midfielder Christine Soucy (Rockland, MA).

Lamothe leads the team with an impressive 43 points (18 goals, 7 assists) which is the third highest single-season total in BSC women's soccer history. Conley set the school mark with 48 points in 1992 and it was later equaled by Kim Rhodes in 2002.  Lamothe also moved past Kara Kennedy (1987-1989) into fourth place on the Bears all-time scoring list as she now has 67 career points in just two seasons at BSC.

Spingler made nine saves to earn her eighth win as she is now 8-0-1 on the season. Framingham State goalie Kate Simonelli (Pittsfield, MA) made eight saves in a losing effort.

The Rams return to action on Tuesday as they play host to UMass Boston at 3 p.m. on Senior Day, while the Bears travel to Keene State at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
