Box Score

WORCESTER, Mass. -- Senior forward Kaitlin Lamothe (Wrentham, MA) recorded a pair of goals to help pace Bridgewater State College to a 3-1 win over Worcester State in MASCAC women's soccer action on Saturday evening at Coughlin Stadium.

With the win the Bears, winners of six straight, improve to 6-1-2 and remain undefeated at 3-0 in the conference while the Lancers slip to 6-5-1 (2-2 MASCAC).

Senior Amanda Santos (Milford, MA) notched the first marker of the contest when she knocked in an unassisted goal in the 17th minute. Lamothe responded five minutes later when she capitalized off a feed from classmate Julie Sullivan (Whitman, MA).

The game remained knotted at 1-1 until the 70th minute when BSC junior Kristina McSharry (Plymouth, MA) caught a rebound off of a save and she hit home the go-ahead tally. Lamothe added an insurance goal in the 89th minute for her team-leading 12th marker of the season.

With her four points in the game, Lamothe moved past Jeannie Rooney (1993-96) and Jessica Chiachio (2004-07) into sixth place on the Bears' all-time scoring list.  Lamothe currently has 51 points (23 goals, 5 assists) in less than two full seasons at BSC.

The Bears finished the game with an 18-12 edge in shots while the Lancers ended with a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Worcester State sophomore keeper Rachael Armenti (W. Boylston, MA) registered four saves while her counterpart, Kayla Grover (Haverhill, MA) was outstanding in her first win of the season. Grover stopped 10 of the 11 shots on goal she faced this evening.

Both teams will face Westfield State in the next week. WSC will take a break and travel to Springfield, MA on Friday at 7 PM while Bridgewater will host the Owls on Monday at 3 o'clock.
