Chrispin Leads Wrestling at Northeast Regionals

WORCESTER, Mass. -- Sophomore Malcolm Chrispin (Hyde Park, Mass.) went 2-2 out of the 133-pound weight class to lead the Bridgewater State University wrestling team on Saturday at the 2024 NCAA Division III Northeast Regional Wrestling Championships held on Saturday at the WPI Sports & Recreation Center.

After dropping his opening bout of the day to #3 seed Gabriel Leo-Esparolini of Johnson & Wales University, Chrispin bounced back with a 10-2 major decision over Chris Tringali of Roger Williams University followed by a win by fall (3:14) against Plymouth State's Nick Savriego. Chrispin's tournament run would come to end with a tough 6-2 setback to #8 seed Matthew Carrozza of Trinity College.

Chrispin wrapped up his first season in a BSU uniform with an overall record of 21-10 (.677) including a pair of pins. He led the Bears in wins, takedowns and near falls.

The Bears finished in 20th place in the team standings with four points.
