Malcolm Chrispin Places Third at Messiah Petrofes Invitational

GRANTHAM, Mass. – Bridgewater State University sophomore Malcolm Chrispin (Hyde Park, Mass.) placed third of the 133-pound weight class on Saturday at the prestigious Messiah Petrofes Invitational held at the Hitchcock Arena on the campus of Messiah University.

Chrispin continued his impressive run at the tournament on Saturday as he posted an 18-2 technical fall victory over Sean Rinebolt of Shenandoah University followed by a 5-0 decision over Brendan Callahan of Gettysburg University in the consolation semifinals.

In the third-place match, Chrispin rode the strength of three takedowns as well as a key riding time point as he held off Anthony Portillo of Alvernia University, 10-8.

On Friday, Chrispin reeled off three straight wins after getting pinned in his first bout of the day. He posted back-to-back dominant technical fall victories (18-0 and 16-0) over Fernando Morales of Southern Virginia University and Derek Renninger of Thaddeus Stevens College followed by a 6-0 decision against AJ Orlando of Averett University.

With his six straight wins over the course of the two-day tournament, Chrispin improved his win-loss record to 11-6.

The Bears finished 13th in the team standings with 30 points.
