Wrestling Competes at Doug Parker Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University wrestling team competed on Saturday at the Doug Parker Invitational hosted by Springfield College.

Sophomore Malcolm Chrispin (Hyde Park, Mass.) posted a 3-2 win-loss record competing out of the 133-pound weight class including a win over a seeded wrestler. Chrispin opened the day with a decisive 18-0 technical fall victory over Michael Manieri of Wesleyan University. After bowing to top-seed and 2023 All-American Chase Randall of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, Chrispin advanced in the consolation bracket with a win by medical forfeit followed by a 21-8 major decision against #9 seed John Lafferty of New England College. He ended the day with a major decision setback to #7 seed Ryan Kelly of Delaware Valley University.

Junior Amauris Gomez (Lawrence, Mass.) went 2-2 out of the 174-pound weight class with a 17-8 major decision over Andy Muzika of Pennsylvania College of Technology. Gomez also pinned (1:16) Joseph Wasilewski of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

Freshman Ryan Donovan (Milford, Mass.) went 2-2 out of the 149-pound weight class with a 10-3 victory over Springfield's Mason Preble as well as a 14-2 major decision against Ethan Melendez of Delaware Valley. Both of Donovan's losses were to seeded wrestlers.

Bridgewater State finished in 17th place in the team standings.

The Bears are off until December 1st and 2md when they compete at the 52nd Annual Messiah Petrofes Invitational in Grantham, Pennsylvania.
