BRISTOL, R.I. -- The Bridgewater State University wrestling placed ninth (58.5 pts.) out of 12 teams at the Roger Williams Invitational held on Saturday at the RWU Field House.

Senior Sean McCullough (North Reading, Mass.) and junior Michael Hopkins (Swampscott, Mass.) both placed fourth out of their respective weight classes to lead the way for the Bears.

McCullough went 5-2 out of the 197-pound weight class. He opened the day with a pin and followed that up with a 19-11 major decision over #5 seed Dean Omirly of Wesleyan University as well as a decisive 17-1 technical fall victory over #4 seed Michael Sanchez of the University of Southern Maine in the quarterfinals. After losing by technical fall in the semifinals to top-seeded Darby McLaughlin, McCullough bounced back with a 19-3 technical fall win over Omirly before dropping an 8-2 decision to Castleton's Colton Perkins in the third place match.

Hopkins went 5-2 out of the 165-pound weight class including a 9-1 major decision over #3 seed Matt Lucas of host Roger Williams. Both of his setbacks (quarterfinals and third place match) came at the hands of #6 seed Andrew Maiorini of Wesleyan University.

The Bears are back in action next Saturday when they travel to Springfield College for the Doug Parker Invitational.
