Wrestling Competes at NEWA Futures Tournament

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Several members of the Bridgewater State University wrestling team competed on Sunday at the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Futures Tournament hosted by Western New England University.

Freshman William Conniff (Wrentham, Mass.) went 4-2 out of the 149-pound weight class. After dropping his opening bout, Conniff won four straight matches including a win by fall (0:20) over Sean Meese of Norwich University and a pair of major decision victories over Jack DeVoe of Wesleyan University and WPI's Ethan Wilson. Following a win by default against Eddie Troyano of Roger Williams University, Conniff lost by technical fall to Zachary Weiner of Johnson & Wales University in the consolation semifinals.

Freshman Sei Dolomengi (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) went 1-2 with a pin out of the 125-pound weight class, while senior Lucas Purpora (Lawrence, Mass.) went 1-2 competing at 141. 

The Bears finished in 13th place at the tournament with 13 points.
