BRISTOL, R.I. -- Freshman Jonathan Davila (Andover, Mass.) captured the 149-pound title to lead the Bridgewater State University wrestling team on Saturday at the Scott Viera Open hosted by Roger Williams University.

Seeded fourth in the 149-pound weight class, Davila went 4-0 on the day as he opened the meet with back-to-back technical fall victories (16-0 and 17-2) over Roger Williams' Aidan Merriman and fifth-seeded Edwin Morales of Johnson & Wales University. Following a hard-fought 3-2 decision over Luke Albanese of Sacred Heard University, Davila defeated #2 seed Thomas DiResta of Johnson & Wales in the championship bout, 7-3.

Junior Conner Mackie (Ramstein-Miesembach, Germany) placed second in the 125-pound bracket. Seeded third, Mackie (7-7) blanked his first round opponent, Liam Campbell of the UMass Wrestling Club, before posting an 8-6 decision over second-seeded Ari Dinerman of Roger Williams in the semifinals. Mackie dropped a 13-3 major decision to #1 seed Ryan O'Rourke of Johnson & Wales in the championship bout.

Freshman Sei Dolomengi (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) added a fourth-place finish for the Bears competing out of the 125-pound weight class. Unseeded, Dolomengi posted a first-round upset win over #4 Ben Dubois of Roger Williams, before dropping a 14-2 major decision to O'Rourke in the semifinals. After bouncing back with an 8-1 decision against Campbell, Dolomengi bowed to DuBois, 14-3, in the fourth-place match.

Senior Wilson Gomes (Fogo, Cape Verde) went 2-1 out of the 133-pound weight class. The top-seeded Gomes (16-3) opened the day with an 8-2 decision over Beckett Herman of UMass and followed that up with a first period pin (1:51) of Johnson & Wales' Chris Gomez in the quarterfinals. Gomes' day came to an end with a tough 7-5 decision to Brayen Mendez Membreno of Springfield College in the semifinals.

The Bears are off until after the New Year when they host a tri-meet with Wesleyan University and WPI on Saturday, January 7th.
